It didn't take long. The Redbud Rising Sun
A "peachy keen" new introduction, The Rising Sun Redbud is destined to light up the landscape with appealing, peach colored heart-shaped leaves. This durable native small tree contributes brilliant, golden tangerine colored, heart-shaped foliage combining with contrasting lime-green leaves all Summer with no burning, even in full sun.
Reaching a mature height of only 12 feet, The Rising Sun is perfect for smaller gardens and in-town neighborhoods as well as for specimen and accent plants.
Some plants are patented but never gain the status of recognition by name. Not the case here. The head turning beauty all four seasons have been baptized with the colors of sky at sunrise:
The Rising Sun Redbud.
Beauty all four seasons is the word with this Redbud. It is a vigorous grower with a full, rounded shape that stylishly holds its color into autumn. A third season of interest is provided in early spring by sweet pea-type flowers, rosy-orchid in color. The flowers appear before the foliage in spring and are attractive to bees and butterflies. New foliage is a brilliant rosy-apricot. Even the bark is a smooth tan with a yellowish cast, distinctive from other Redbuds. Covered with the common sweet pea lke blooms up and down branches and the trunk in early spring, this vigorous grower doesn't stop until it reaches its ideal height of 12 feet.
Then the bright rosy apricot new leaves mature to a riveting summer folliage that ranges in color from gold to peach and apricot and lime. This color-combination is retained on the tree right through autumn! A beautiful tan bark with a yellowish cast extends the peachy color scheme into the winter is not only distinctive from othe reduds, but from any other tree you may already have growing. The contrast of colors can only be describe with one word:
"S P E C T A C U L A R!"
Did we mention that it is heat tolerant to 114F (tested) without any signs of scorching even in the midst of the summer sun? On the other end of the spectrum, it is also cold hardy to -10F to -20F below zero. It tolerates soil moisture, growing in loam, sand or clay.
NEW. TESTED. PROVEN. UNUSUAL. BEAUTIFUL. UNIQUE. HEAT TOLERANT. COLD HARDY.

Color? All 4 seasons! Beginning with bright, rosy apricot colored new leaves, they mature as the season progresses into a riveting summer foliage color mix that ranges anywhere from a bold gold to peach, peppered apricot and lime (just imagine this blend of leaves) ... AND the color is retained throughout the summer. Still there's more... the summer color has been tested and proven at up to temperatures of up 114F! And we don't mean crinkly, burnt leaves when the temperatures rise, or in special shaded conditions. We mean it takes the full sun! Not enough for you? OK, there's still more: the trees are covered in unbelievable profusion with lavender/pink flowers, on both trunk and branches - extending a show from before the leaves come out until the leaves have matured on the trees. But this is truly a 4-season color tree. The trees tan park has a yellowish cast which extends the peach color scheme into winter, making it distinctive from other redbuds.

In searching where to purchase one of the NEW
Redbud 'Rising Sun' trees, I came across Leaves and Petals' web site. They were wonderful to deal with, and shipped my tree at just the right time for planting. It arrived beginning to sprout blooms and leaves, and I can hardly wait to watch it grow. Very impressed with my first order...the tree itself, as well as Leaves and Petals' responsiveness, offer to answer any questions, and the nice Thank You card and note tucked under the packing slip!
